    Project Food Blog

Project Food Blog, The Next Foodblog Star, was a global competition hosted by Foodbuzz back in 2010. Foodbuzz was one of the largest food blogging advertising platform in those early blogging days, and most active food bloggers were part of the network.

The competition occurred over a span of 10 weeks. Each week contestants were given a new challenge on Wednesday, with a deadline of Sunday evening to publish the new post for the week. Winners would be chosen (via a combination of voting and judges' feedback), and the half who had advanced would proceed to do the next round of challenges.

I was floored to win the total competition, which started with close to 2000 contestants from all around the world (!). Below are the posts that I published each week, culminating in my winning post as well as some reflections after the competition was over.

I chose to donate the winning proceedings (US $10,000) to Boston Rescue Mission, an organization I supported by regularly organizing church groups to go cook and serve the homeless. It's hard to believe it's been 15 years since this competition happened.

Foodbuzz got acquired by SheMedia the following year, and they never did repeat this competition again. Thus, Tiny Urban Kitchen is the only blog who has ever won Project Food Blog. It was a thrilling experience, and I'll never forget it.
