It meant we only had two full days at CES. Hardly enough time to absorb everything, but we tried our best.

My favorite concept at the booth was the concept of a flat induction cooktop that had the flexibility to heat anywhere on its surface, responding organically to whatever sized pot is placed on top of it. This flat cooktop would also provide access to social media, email, and the web (like recipes!).
Alas, this is a pure concept right now, and I’m not sure how long it will be before something like this is available in the marketplace. Can’t wait for something like this to actually come out!

Finally, I saw some fun washer/dryers that had some pretty cool designs on them. I must say my current laundry room is not the most fashionable room in the house. It would be fun to jazz it up a bit with some style – maybe a colorful machine matched up with equally bold carpeting or something. Whirlpool is releasing two designs this year – a black diamond design and a chrome polka dot design, which you can see in the video. If those go over well, they’ll expand the design selection in the years to come.
Speaking of the video . . .
I mentioned in my last post that I shot a video while I was at CES at the Whirlpool booth. The video is now LIVE! You can see it on Whirlpool’s CES site or see it embedded below.
Enjoy!

I would love to have a refrigerator that has the ability to pull up a recipe on the web and tell me what ingredients I have (or don’t have). Then it could email/text me the ingredients that I need to purchase at the store. It would be even better if the software could tell me which store in my area has the best price on the item(s).
I would love stainless steel that doesn’t show fingerprints! It’s the only thing holding me back from getting it in my kitchen because it looks so pretty!

I would love to have bluetooth ovens that will start preheating when I pull up a recipe on my smartphone – so that I’m not waiting around after I’ve gotten what I have prepared cuz I forgot to preheat…
I need some kind of fridge/cabinet/spice rack organizer that coordinates to a grocery list. The number of times that I have forgotten an ingredient and had to run out to the store…
WOW the future of my home. There are a few things off the bat that I can think of such as new carpeting and a bathroom that is complete. In the kitchen area I would love a new dishwasher also a great new floor and cabinet and countertops.
Would love a smart fridge that let me know when things were expiring, or could suggest recipes based on the ingredients I had in stock. Yay for the future!
I would like a dual air conditioning and heating system that I can turn on and off remotely in cases that I forget to turn it off or I want the home warm or cool before I get back!

I want my future house to have dual ovens so I can cook multiple things at once especially during Thanksgiving!

What a great giveaway! I tweeted: https://twitter.com/JulieBabyatzky/status/423217692342902784
I’d love to have electronics in my house connect with my smartphone — It would be great to be able to start my crock pot while I’m at work, or make sure I turned off my hair straightener or space heater by just checking an app or my phone. I’s also love it if I could make sure all the lights are off during the day — I’m sure it could add up to a decent electric savings!
My idea for the future would be a spice dispenser that you’d punch in the amount of spice you’d need, place a little cup under it and it’s dispense just the right amount! It’d be perfect to make powdered blends like curry and such!
My future home would be all about convenience – looking up recipes in a built in on the stove. Self cleaning refrigerator. Energy efficient appliances (no more needing to unplug). Remote control oven that is also a refrigerator until I turn it on. Come quickly, future!
This is fun! My future home would have a nagging machine that would follow me around saying things like, “You haven’t worked out yet,” When are you going to get to those dirty dishes?” and “should you really be watching this much tv?”

I’d love a smart fridge that would tell me when my milk/juice/etc. is getting low and would create a shopping list for me, sent to my phone, of course.
remote control stove top!
I would like my refrigerator to have a built-in coffee bar that would be controlled by a smart phone so I can make the perfect cup of coffee with cream from my bed so by the time I get to the kitchen my coffee would would be ready & waiting for me.
I could definitely go with a fridge that dispensed various juices and sodas (and sparkling water). I’m so tired of collecting/storing all those bottles for recycling!!
More multifunction tools that eliminate single function tools, so you save space but still have the convenience. Also a single person dishwasher…or a dishwasher that can sense the size of the load and reduce water usage accordingly. I’m single and sometimes it takes me more than a week to fill the dishwasher to make running a load worth it, in the mean time I run out of spoons or glasses. A single rack dishwasher would be ideal for tiny 1-person apartments and homes.
Great giveaway. Love the induction. I think it is certainly better than gas. This would be a part of my new kitchen.
My idea for the future of my home: I would actually like to own a home of my own, firstly, and if I did have a home, I would want solar panels on the roof, and all energy-saving appliances in the kitchen, laundry room, sensor faucets throughout, excellent venting system over the gas range, and a nice open layout that makes moving around in the house, a breeze 🙂

I would like for someone to design a refrigerator with a dedicated storage section and door ( with adjustable temperature ) for wine storage. I think even with space for just about 12 bottles, would be of immense help for most people who don’t want to clutter the living space with separate refrigerators for wine storage or even worse don’t have the space.
I’d love it if my house of the future could help out with meal prep- taking things out of the fridge to come up to room temp, wash and dice veggies, etc. That would be a ton of help!
My future home would have one machine that washed and dried the clothes. And a robotic vacuum that came out from under a cabinet at night and quietly did all the floors. That would be a dream home!
Great giveaway. I would love the kitchen or washer/dryer innovations!

My future home will come equipped with a new-age washing machine that loads the laundry automatically into the dryer when the wash cycle is complete.
My idea would be to have a washer in dryer in one! Would be amazing to turn the clothes on to wash and then have them dried right after. No more rewashing because you forgot to put the clothes in the dryer 🙂

I would love to eventually be 100% off grid. Solar power, rain water/well water, etc. That is my ultimate goal for my home’s future.

We are remodeling slowly and for this year I would really like to get the rewiring completed.
my idea for the future would involve quiet efficiency. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a washer/dryer that did its job quickly and quietly? perhaps in one machine? that would be heaven…
I’d love a single appliance that is both a washer and dryer – toss in the clothes, come back and they are washed and dried. A space saver and a time saver. And how about a solar powered vacuum?
A refrigerator with rotating shelves would save on spoiled food!
I’m looking forward to the day when I can have a smart home. I still recall reading Ray Bradbury’s stories about homes that were “alive” and am expecting that any day now! dahbou at gmail dot com

There is no better invention/idea than a duel washer/dryer in one machine… best idea of the century…
I’d like to have a heated garage with a smart garage door opener.
Thanks for the contest.

My house was built in 1919 – that means there is beautiful original woodwork and build-ins, but it’s pretty drafty! I’d work on updating the home without losing the original features that I love. Our washer and dryer are from 1990 – why not replace those with something a little more effecient! 😉
I would love solar-powered appliances in my future home. 🙂 Having a smart cooktop like the one you saw would be AMAZING!!! Eeeep! I’d like it especially because you should be able to fit more than just 4 pans on the stove at the same time.
Amazing cooktop and video. Thanks
