M&C Duck TST

For a lover of Peking duck, Hong Kong is a paradise. You can go crazy high-end and enjoy exquisitely produced Peking duck at Lung King Heen inside the Four Seasons or Man Wah inside the Mandarin Oriental.

Alternatively, you can head down into the basement level restaurant Peking Garden in Tsim Sha Tsui and share a huge duck cooked old-school style with a large group of friends. With so many Peking duck places in the city, one might wonder why the Maxim Group chose to open yet another duck restaurant, M&C Duck, inside Harbour City, one of the largest malls in Hong Kong.

M&C Duck does a lot of things really well.

First of all, the feel of the restaurant is more contemporary and casual than other Peking duck places. Chefs prepare the ducks in an open kitchen, which is fun for diners to watch.

Furthermore, the menu includes a lot of other fun, creative Chinese dishes that are executed well and present beautifully, like these fun beancurd skin wrapped Chinese chives or stir fried pea shoots.

Most importantly, the duck is really good and pretty reasonably priced. Better yet, a diner can order a smaller, half-duck portion, which is just enough for a person dining solo.

Yes, you can enjoy really good Peking duck even if you are dining solo!

I've seen a lot of people order a huge spicy fish pot that looks fantastic. I'd consider ordering it if I ever went back with a larger crowd.

The restaurant has outdoor seating that faces the harbour, so if you are lucky, you can even dine outside and gaze at Hong Kong's gorgeous skyline while munching on excellent Peking duck and other dishes.

One downside: the restaurant does not take reservations so you have to "line up" by using the ticketing system they have. Show up, grab a ticket, and then wait until your number is called. You can shop at the massive mall while you are waiting and follow along on the app to see the progression of the line.

All in all, M&C Duck is a great restaurant, which explains why there's almost always a line during peak mealtimes. If you don't want to wait in line, definitely show up early, like maybe before 6PM.
