What better place to enjoy Vienna's (arguably) most famous dish the weinerschnitzel, or most famous Viennese dessert, Kaiserschmarr‘n, than Michelin Bib Gourmand Meierei im Stadtpark? Meierei is the sister restaurant to 3-Michelin starred Steirereck, which is located "upstairs" of Meierei.

We were crazy. We decided to book both restaurants. We ended up enjoying a more casual dinner at Meierei first before having our fancy lunch at Steirereck the following day.

The dining space at Meierei is beautiful, and if the weather's nice, it's lovely to sit outside facing the river.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, opening at 8AM on weekdays and 9AM on Saturday. (They close on Sundays). Dinner is between 6PM and 10PM, and on top of just ordering a la cart, you can instead get a 4 course (78 EUROS), 5 course (89 EUROS), or 6 course (99 EUROS) menu.

The menu has quite a few options, including some Viennese classics, such as Weiner Schnitzel (27 EUROS), Goulash (18 or 22 EUROS), and Kaisershmarr'n (16 EUROS).

    Our Meal

We decided to just order a la carte, each getting a starter, entree, and dessert (or cheese). It was nice to share all of the dishes (yes, they are definitely large enough to share). In some ways, we felt like we had experienced at least a 6-course menu, even though we'd only ordered 2 dishes (plus a dessert/ cheese) each.

We enjoyed some unique wines as part of the pairing, including their own!

Bryan decided to get the Wiener Schnitzel from the classic menu. Meierei's version is made from milk-fed veal and served with early potatoes (EURO 29).

Venison Ragout came with sweet corn, chanterelles, apricot, and wild broccoli.

    Dessert

For dessert, the "Steirereck" Kaiserschmarr‘n with Damson Ragout was on the classic menu but it said it was for two people and would take 30 minutes to make. Bryan wasn't that interested in getting this (he prefers cheese). The server offered to to let me order a single serving, which is what I did.

It was quite tasty, though I didn't realize it was filled with raisins (I don't like raisins). I could still enjoy the fluffy pancake-like dessert by picking out the raisins. It's a huge portion though! I ended up taking about half of my dessert home and slowly eating it over the next few days.

Bryan went for the cheese, and he was very happy.

Meierei im Stadtpark - General Thoughts

    Meierei im Stadtpark

If you don't have a lot of time in Vienna and you want to taste some classics but also enjoy a higher end meal, Meierei im Stadtpark is a great option. The service and dining experience as a whole are excellent. The food is also really good, and you'll definitely enjoy a very nice version of Vienna classics.

It's quite nice to walk around the park either before or after the meal. Definitely recommend this place!
