    Beefbar Hong Kong

    Beefbar Hong Kong

It's never just a single birthday, right? How about birth-week, or even birth month? For me, it was birth-weekend this time, with back-to-back celebrations on Friday and Saturday. Saturday - my actual birthday - was going to be a double celebration with my birthday "twin" at the highly anticipated Feuille by David Toutain.

Friday night was just Bryan and me, a quiet pre-birthday dinner at Beefbar, a 1-Michelin starred steak restaurant in Central that we'd never tried before.

Little did we know how "huge" of a brand it is. Beefbar has a sprawling empire of restaurants, with a huge concentration in Europe and a strong presence in the Middle East and Central/South America. Interestingly, there are none in North America, and only one in Asia, namely, this Hong Kong branch.

Beefbar originally came from Monte-Carlo in 2005, but has since expanded broadly.

Despite starting out as a meat purveyor, Beefbar's concept is to "break" from the traditional steakhouse model. Yes, the focus is on the beef, and they source a lot of excellent high-end exclusive beef from the US, Australia, Japan, and more.

But there's a lot more besides the beef. They have a whole "Street Foods" section of the menu where you can pick all different types of street snacks.

We went with the shrimp tacos, which were delicious.

    The Steak

Of course the focus is on the beef. We shared a bone-in Ribeye and black truffle fries. The steak was fantastic, cooked with a lovely char.

They tempted us with black truffle fries. How could I say no?

    Beefbar Hong Kong

Yum! Haha, yep, I love gnawing on the bone, where the most flavorful meat is!

Great, great wine that went really well with the steak.

    Dessert

The souffle is one of their signature dishes and takes about 20 minutes to make.

It was soft, fluffy, and all around just perfect. A small dollop of ice cream completed the dessert.

All in all, a GREAT prelude birthday meal. The ambiance was comfortable, the service was great, and the food was high quality. We had a really nice time and would totally come back again.
