I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday!
So sorry I haven't been posting as much. I have been traveling for two weeks straight throughout Europe and Asia. I thought I would be able to catch up on blogging during my flights in between my trips. Who would have thought that jetlag would totally consume me, and I would end up sleeping most of my flights.
So for now, I've compiled a few of my Instagram posts to give you a sense of what I've been up to. Please feel free to check out the entire feed (also available on Twitter and Facebook), if you want to see more details about my trip so far. Of course, I will follow up with very detailed posts about everything in the next several months to come.
Enjoy!
We started out our journey in Alba, Italy, which I described in detail in one of my previous posts. In Alba, we checked our the White Truffle Festival, explored the gorgeous wine regions of Barolo and Barbaresca, and ate lots and lots of local Piedmontese cuisine topped with loads of white truffles!
Welcome to the town of St. Emilion, a French town known for its many wineries! #France #birthdaytrip A photo posted by Jennifer (@tinyurbankitchen) on
We then hopped on a flight to Bordeaux, France, one of the most famous wine regions in the world. We visited several quaint wine villages, like St. Emilion (gorgeous little town), Sauternes, Pauillac, and Saint-Estèphe.
Afternoon snack - sampling canelés (a Bordeaux specialty) from @baillardran Bordeaux's most famous shop. A photo posted by Jennifer (@tinyurbankitchen) on
Bordeaux is also home of the delicious dessert called the cannelle, one of my favorites!
All of Paris is lit up in red, white, and blue - so beautiful ???????????? A photo posted by Jennifer (@tinyurbankitchen) on
After 4 days, we took a three-hour train ride to Paris. Despite the recent attacks, the city was just as beautiful and as magical as it has always been. There was definitely a lot more security. We went through metal detectors at all museums, malls, and other public places. We even had our luggage checked before we could enter any hotel.
Because this was our second (my third) time in Paris, we didn't rush around visiting all the typical tourist sites. Instead, we revisited our favorite museums, walked A LOT along the Seine, checked out a Christmas market on the Champs Elysee, and enjoyed a lot of excellent food!
Hello Tokyo! View from our room! ???? #Japan #birthdaytrip A photo posted by Jennifer (@tinyurbankitchen) on
After three days in Paris, we hopped on another plane to Tokyo, one of my favorite cities in the world.
Bryan had insisted on taking me to Sushi Yoshitake, the restaurant that makes his favorite dish in the world. I must say, Sushi Yoshitake was phenomenal and has quickly become one of my favorite sushi places in the world.
Day 81: Happy Thanksgiving from #Tokyo! Spent the day browsing my favorite stores & having dinner w/ some dear old friends who live in Japan. #domo100days A photo posted by Jennifer (@tinyurbankitchen) on
In Japan, we did a lot of shopping, eating, and hiking to enjoy Japan at its peak foliage time.
I also finally made a pilgrimage to the only bakery in the world allowed to produce authentic Totoro desserts!
We arrived in Hong Kong yesterday, the last stop of our epic around-the-world trip. I have barely scratched the surface of everything I've learned and experienced on this trip. Bryan and I have taken over 2000 photos on this trip. I can't wait to share it all with you over the next several months!
