Hi Friends!
If you’ve been reading this blog for some time, you’ll know that I’m a pretty big fan of burgers. I’ve talked about burgers a lot on this blog, trying all sorts of places both local and far away (like, for example, one of Boston’s most iconic burgers, the burger that became so hard-to-get they had to take it off of the menu and only serve it at the bar, or many, many, other excellent burger joints across this country).
I’m thrilled to announce that the 5th annual Battle of the Burger 2016 will be happening Wednesday, August 10th.
25 different Boston restaurants will compete for the top spot. Guests can sample burgers from all the competitors and vote for their favorites. A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit non-profit partner Family Reach.

Wow this looks really appetizing! Favorite burger in Boston is from Bartley’s, mainly for its nostalgia.
I really liked the Blue Collar burger from Tasty Burger, but I don’t think they sell it anymore. =(
My favorite burger in Boston is definitely at Russel House Tavern in Harvard Square. The bun they use is so good!
Tough to pick just one! But I’ll have to go with my tried and true favorite, the Black and Blue at O’Sullivans With half and half onion rings and fries.
I stand by the Craigie burger at Craigie on the Main.
O’Sullivan and Sons in Somerville!
Favorite high end….Craigie….also love Highland Kitchen and Russell House Tavern!!
I’ll probably get ragged on for this, but I’ll throw it out there – Shake Shack!
I used to live in LA and they really know how to do burgers in LA so it’s hard to judge Boston because it’s not the same … But we will eventually get there. The best burger I’ve had in Boston is Mr. Bartley’s. Yumm! Iove their creative burgers and names. I want some now 🙂
Alden and Harlow burgers are my current favorite
Boston Burger Company!
Hard to choose just one, but I think I have to go with jm Curley!
Alden and Harlow
Sorry I didn’t mean to comment twice
Build your own burger at Boston Burger company. I always add sautéed mushrooms and a fried egg. I love a fried egg on my burger and find it hard to eat one without now!
Tasty burger!
The Cellar Burger! Always a juicy, well seasoned, classic with the slightest twist a la arugula and aioli. Hardier than Tasty Burger but not so big that I can’t comfortably gobble down the perfect truffle fries that come with.
I’m not sure it’s my favorite of all time, but I really like the Teriyaki burger at Tasty Burger.
The BBQ Onion Burger at Tasty Burger is my fave
Went to Little Donkey in Central last week and fell in love with their burger (dry-aged beef burger topped with jalapeño potato chips, Buffalo pickles, foie gras, and onion soup mayo). I haven’t stopped taking about it since. Everything I had there was great but the burger was on another level.
Craigie on Main. No doubt.
Love the burgers at Christophers in Porter! They have a great veggie burger and rotating specialty burgers. Thanks for the giveaway!
Love the Shack Burger at Shake Shack in Harvard Square
If I’m looking for a cheap burger: Shake Shack
If I want something higher end: JM Curley
The “Ghost of Sam’s” burger at The Maiden, in South Boston, is terrific!
I almost always do Tasty Burger when I splurge these days for convenience sake, but Emmet’s was always my favorite in college!
Craigie burger #1
My favorite Boston burgers don’t come from any restaurant, my roommate makes them. They’re typically over-cooked and over-seasoned, malformed in such a way that they shrink on the grill into small, misshapen ovals. At some point, for reasons lost to time, someone christened them “Bucky Balls.” For several years we had barbecues nearly every weekend and he would make a batch.
I don’t claim to be a true connoisseur, but for all the renowned burgers in the area I’ve tried, I wouldn’t take any over his. Nothing beats those warm summer nights, surrounded by friends, talking and joking, everyone filling up on chips and eagerly waiting for the latest Bucky Balls.
I do have a soft spot for the Son of Shojonator though.
