In't Spinnekopke was one of those places that I didn't try for a very long time because it was just too damn popular. By the time Bryan got back from the office on a normal weeknight, it was late enough that we probably couldn't get into the restaurant without a long wait.
In't Spinnekopke has the perfect combination of excellent, authentic Belgian fare at good prices (it's a Michelin Bib Gourmand), excellent location in the charming and bustling Place Sainte-Catherine, and tons of character. The inside is filled with nostalgic posters and paintings. The 18th century former inn has a cozy and warm feel, with traditional wood paneling and old school furniture.
Furthermore, the restaurant has an excellent beer selection and offers an great selection of classic, traditional Belgian fare. Try one of the many different variety of moules frites (that's what we did!). Or if you'd rather have meat, get a steak with one of their many different sauces.
White and black sausage!
A lovely salad full of high quality, fresh ingredients!
All in all, I'm so glad I finally got to try this place closer to the end of our time in Brussels. I always love walking around Place de Sainte-Catherine, so it's a bonus to be able to explore that area after having a simple, classic Belgian meal.
