We first discovered DK1885, a local favorite Vietnamese restaurant a bit off the beaten path in Wan Chai because we were looking for restaurants where we could bring our own wine - aka no corkage fee.
We were pleasantly surprised to discover that we also really enjoyed the food. DK1885 serves Northern Vietnamese dishes with a bit of French influence. We loved the vibrant flavors, fresh ingredients, and reasonable prices. The ability to bring our own wine was another huge plus.

Wok fried chicken "kidney" (gizzard) [HKD88] came stir fried with a ton of fragrant lemongrass in a spicy sauce.

The Grilled US beef salad was also quite nice, served with a variety of fresh local vegetables.

The Charcoal grilled French quail with DK Sauce [HKD98] was fantastic.

We loved the spicy, salty, fragrant DK Sauce (I'm guessing it's fish sauce based), which added a vibrant dimension to the grilled French quail.

Finally, the Roasted Suckling Pig with DK sauce [HKD198] was also expertly executed, with a nice crispy skin.
DK1885 is a hidden gem in Wan Chai that serves reasonably priced, well executed Vietnamese dishes together with a great BYOB no corkage policy. The atmosphere is casual but cozy, and the people were friendly. All in all, I'm happy to come here to chill with friends and enjoy good food with fun wine that we bring.
